WordPress 4.3. Awaiting the new version
This article is 11 years old — prices and terms may have changed.
WordPress 4.3 beta 1 has gone into testing. The new version improves user search and switches comments on pages off by default.
Anyone following developments closely may already be familiar with some of the new features of this version, such as new site icons, the menu customiser and stronger password security.
But there are less well-known improvements coming in the new version of the CMS as well.
Improved user search. Searching in the admin section will be far simpler. Users will now be findable not only by login or e-mail but by other fields:
- First name
- Surname
- Nickname
- Display name
This matters especially for a large multisite installation with thousands of users.
Comments on pages will be off by default. WordPress 4.3 will also make it possible to switch comments on pages off by default. In future you will not have to change the settings when creating a page in order to turn comments off.
This change also applies to every custom post type.
More detail about the planned changes can be read on https://wordpress.org, and we remind you that on any plan of our hosting WordPress and around 100 other content management systems can be installed in a few clicks.
