Common questions about WordPress hosting
What people ask before a first order.
How is WordPress hosting different from ordinary hosting?
The location is the same; what differs is the set of resources and tools. WordPress can be installed on ordinary hosting too, and for a business-card site or a small company site that is often enough.
WordPress hosting is taken when the site has grown: it needs more processor and memory, and the work on themes, plugins and updates never stops. There are separate tools for that here: every site visible in the panel, updates you can switch to automatic, a copy of the site for testing made in one go.
Do I have to install WordPress myself?
No. WordPress is installed already: after payment an email with the credentials arrives, you log in and start by choosing a theme, not by downloading files and setting things up by hand.
If you would rather start from a clean slate, the installed WordPress can be removed and set up again from the panel, with your own theme and the plugins you want.
Can a site really be ready in a minute?
Yes, and it is not a demo but a real WordPress site. You describe in your own words what you do and who for, and the assistant picks the design, writes the copy, places the images and builds the home, services, about and contact pages. It takes about a minute.
Treat such a site as a good draft rather than finished work: the copy is worth reading through, with the general phrases replaced by your own figures and the images by your own photos. All of it edits in the ordinary WordPress editor, no separate program is needed, and the site moves to another host as freely as any other.
Do updates really install themselves?
Yes, if you switch it on. Automatic updating is set separately for WordPress itself, separately for themes and separately for plugins, so you can hand the machine all of it or only part.
We will not switch it on for you: a plugin update sometimes breaks how the site looks or the cart in a store, and the call on whether the risk is worth it is yours. Stay on manual and the panel simply shows what has been released.
What do I do if the site stops working after an update?
Bring yesterday’s back. A copy of the data is taken every night, so the site and its database can go back a day: write to support and we will restore it.
To keep it from coming to that, try updates on a copy of the site: it is made from the panel with all the files and the database, lives apart from the live site, and there is nothing there to break.
How many WordPress sites fit on one plan?
As many as the plan has domains: one on WP Mini, five on WP Power, twenty on WP Turbo. Each site gets its own domain name, its own data and its own mailboxes.
Besides domains, room in the file count matters. A WordPress site usually has tens of thousands of them: pages, images, theme files, plugins and mail. How many files each plan allows is in the comparison table.
Is it suitable for a WooCommerce store?
Yes. WP Power usually suits a store: a catalog full of images, a cart and emails to customers need more space and more memory than a site of a few pages.
If the store grows to the point of hitting the plan’s ceiling, the next step is not the next plan but a virtual server. We will say so plainly once we see the load.
How do I move a working WordPress site to you?
Up to three sites per service move for free, on any plan. Along with the site we move the mail, the theme, the plugins and the data you need off the old host.
What we need from you is access to the old host. How long the move takes depends on that host and on the size of the site, so we name a duration after we have seen the credentials, not before.
Who is responsible for the site’s security?
We are responsible for the server: that it runs, that it is up to date and closed to known attacks. Every plan carries the Imunify360 antivirus and protection from break-in attempts, and a copy of the data is taken every night.
The site itself is on your side, but the tools for looking after it are in the panel: a security settings check, a check for changed files, and automatic updates for themes and plugins. Old plugins are a common way into a WordPress site, which is why those three are the ones to start with.
Can I get my money back if it does not suit me?
Yes, within the first 30 days after paying for the hosting. Send a request from the client area and we will refund the service.
The domain is not part of the refund, even when it came free with the plan: the name is already recorded in the registry and that entry cannot be undone. The domain stays yours, and you can transfer it to another registrar.
